Von 1870 bis 1874 wurde der Hauptbau des Erfurter Rathauses in einen neugotischem Stil errichtet und enthält viele Wandbilder, welche Legenden, Szenen aus Martin Luthers Leben und der Geschichte Erfurts zeigen.
Heute wird das Gebäude von der Stadtverwaltung genutzt.
The main building of the city hall was built from 1870 to 1874 in a neo-gothic style. It contains a lot of wall paintings, that are showing legends, scenes of Martin Luthers life and the history of Erfurt.
Nowaday the building is used by the city council.
Die in der Altstadt gelegene Krämerbrücke, die um 1325 erbaut wurde, ist mit 120m und 32 Häuern die einzig vollständig erhaltene und auch längste bebaute/bewohnte Brücke nördlich der Alpen.
The Krämerbrücke is situated in the old town of Erfurt and was built in 1325. With its length of 120m and 32 houses, the building is the only fully preserved and longest/occupied bridge northern the Alps.

Zitadelle Petersberg / citadel Petersberg
1665 begann der Bau der Zitadelle Petersberg. Heute gilt die Festung als eine der größten und besterhaltenen Bauwerke ihrer Art in Europa.
Erst 1964 wurde die Zitadelle der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Mittlerweile ist sie nicht mehr in militärischer Nutzung, stattdessen dient sie heute als Sitz von staatlichen Ämtern, kulturelle Einrichtung und bietet sogar Wohnungen.
The beginning of the construction of the citadel Petersberg was in 1665. Nowaday the building is one of the largest and best conserved fortress of its type in Europe.
In 1964 the citadel was opened for the first time for the public. Meanwhile the fort is not anymore in military use, now it is used as domicile of governmental offices, cultural facilities and it even offers apartments.

Als erstes stand ein Besuch des Schaubergwerks “Volle Rose” in Ilmenau (http://www.langewiesen.de/Bergwerk/, externer Link) auf dem Plan.
Weiter ging es dann zur zweithöchsten Talsperre Deutschlands – der Talsperre Leibis-Lichte, für dessen Bau das Dorf Leibis umsiedeln musste.

The first thing, that I have visited was the exhibition mine “Volle Rose” in Ilmenau (http://www.langewiesen.de/Bergwerk/, external link).
After that I went to the second highest dam in Germany – the dam Leibis-Lichte. The village Leibis had to relocate because of this building.
